CAPI Visiting Scholar Aegean Leung to look at women and entrepreneurship in Japan

Joining the Centre in the late Fall of 2009 as a Japan Program Visitor, Aegean's research will examine the rise in popularity of female entrepreneurship in Japan, in a cultural and social context that does not seem to favour entrepreneurial endeavors.  Her current research project will look at what has caused a strong surge among highly educated Japanese women to pursue an entrepreneurial career, and will also assess the impact of female entrepreneurship as a force of change in Japanese society.

The Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives is located at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada and is UVic’s window to the Pacific Rim.
