Meet the CAPI team
Helen Lansdowne, Associate Director
Helen Lansdowne has a BA and an MA in Pacific and Asian Studies from UVic and has been with CAPI since late 1998. She brings expertise in rural China state-society relations. Her most recent area of study includes mainland Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on development and gender.
Chany Chea, Work Study- Program Assistant, Internship Program
Chany Chea is a fourth year student of Political Science and Pacific and Asian Studies. Her areas of interest are migration, development and gender with a regional focus on Southeast Asia. She is working as an internship program assistant with Center for Asia Pacific Initiatives.
Robyn Fila, Program Manager
Robyn Fila has a BA in Geography from the University of Victoria, and an MA in Adult Education and Global Change from Linkoping University in Sweden.
Natasha Fox, Work Study - Student Coordinator
Natasha Fox is a second year MA student in the Pacific and Asian Studies department with a research focus on sexual minority women in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ni-Chome district. She is working as a student coordinator with the Center for Asia Pacific Initiatives.
Melissa Hiebert, Work Study - Student Coordinator
Melissa Hiebert is a second year philosophy masters student with an interest in the ethics of international development and foreign aid. She is working as a student coordinator with the Center for Asia Pacific Initiatives.
Fatima Johra, Work Study- Program Assistant, Internship Program
Fatima Johra is currently working on 'Sociology of Food security: Role of women in Middle and Low-Income Countries' for her MA project in Sociology in the University of Victoria. She is working as an internship program assistant with Center for Asia Pacific Initiatives.
