Heidi Tyedmers has an Honours BA from the University of Toronto in Anthropology and Biomedical Ethics, and an MA from the University of Victoria in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Oceania.

Before joining CAPI in September 2002, she worked for three years on a research and advocacy project in the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu. Her work there focused on youth and specifically notions of marginalization, gender, development and culture. At CAPI Heidi managed CAPI’s International Internship Program, co-ordinated many of the Centre’s initiatives including conferences, symposia and lectures, oversaw the publication of CAPI's newsletter Asia-Pacific News and CAPI's Annual Report, and worked closely with CAPI staff, Chairs and Associates on the ongoing development of CAPI’s programs and initiatives.
