Anne Mitaru worked as a Program Assistant with Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era (DAWN)/Women and Gender Institute (WAGI), Miriam College, in Quezon City, Philippines. This internship was part of CAPI's 2009-10 Students for Development Program, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
Anne is a Master of Laws student at UVic and she obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Nairobi. Before joining UVic Anne worked as an international human rights lawyer with a women's network in greater East Africa. She is passionate about, and committed to the advancement and realisation of women's rights, especially the rights of women from the South, through feminist organising and the formulation and implementation of sound laws and policy at regional and international levels.
