New Courts in the Asia-Pacific Region Workshop

New Courts in the Asia-Pacific Region Workshop
July 13, 2007 (All day) - July 15, 2007 (All day)
Cadboro Commons, University of Victoria
Victoria

CAPI and the Asian Law Centre, University of Melbourne co-convened this workshop, which was organized by CAPI's Law Chair, Dr. Andrew Harding, in collaboration with Dr. Pip Nicholson, of the Asian Law Centre.

Participation in this unique event was by invitation only, and enabled invited scholars to contribute to an international workshop showcasing scholarship on new courts and judicialization in the Asia-Pacific, as well as providing an opportunity to debate findings and implications. It is anticipated that a publication will result from this workshop.

The Asian Law Centre and the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives have had a long-standing relationship. For example, the Director of the Asian Law Centre, Professor Lindsey, was a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives in 1999. The former Directors of the two Centres have also regularly contributed scholarship to academic conferences and events. This workshop was, however, the first collaborative international event between the two Centres.
