Madhumita Bhattacharya, Ph.D. is a well known international scholar in Education. Her areas of research expertise include educational technology, diversity education, science education, multicultural issues and elearning.
Dr. Bhattacharya has received the Hewlett Packard (Asia Pacific & Japan) Technology for Teaching in Higher Education grant Award in 2007. She has been the inaugural New Zealand recipient of a Researcher Exchange Programme Award from the British Council. She has also received grant-in-aid British Council, and grants from Commonwealth of Learning, USAID, Japanese Government and from different universities in Canada, New Zealand, India and Estonia for her research and development work in promoting integration of ICTs in tertiary education. Dr. Bhattacharya has published extensively in academic journals, books and conference proceedings. Most recently she has edited a book entitled, "Emerging technologies in Learning: Impact on Cognition and Culture published by Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education. As an international expert Dr. Bhattacharya has organised several tutorials, workshops, symposium and panel sessions at international conferences in the area of learning technologies, theories of elearning, eportfolios, problem based learning, interactive epublications, cross-cultural studies and innovations in learning and teaching. In December 2011, she has organised an invited panel session on: Newer approaches in Learning: Cross border collaborations "Research, Teaching and Publication" at the IADIS (International Association for the Development of Information Society) International Higher Education conference 2011.
