Description:

This 600 page book, co-edited by CAPI's Law Chair Andrew Harding, is a collection of papers presented at the 2006 8th annual symposium "Constitutional Reform: Comparative Perspectives."  The book was published by The King Prajadhipok's Institute, who also organized the event.  The symposium, held at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, "served as a public forum for the presentation of academic research pertinent to constitutional reform, to exchange knowledge and comparative perspectives, and to share experiences from local and foreign academics."  Topics of papers in this collection touch on a wide range of issues including elections, political parties, the balance of power and relationship between legislative and executive branches, decentralization and empowerment of the civil society, and unjust discrimination against the people.  The book includes two essays by Andrew Harding as well as papers by CAPI's China Chair, Guoguang Wu and CAPI Associate Isabel Lloyd
